Following on from a recent INL paper for the IfG on managing performance in the public sector, the IfG and INL are jointly developing a research project.
The research will establish the differences in policy and management practice that enable or disable radical efficiency changes to be developed and implemented.
By implication, this will mean identifying how well the high performers succeed relative to what could be achieved, as indicated by other research. The new project will then assess policies and practices across the spectrum of high to low performers, and identify those that drive efficiency and effectiveness, and those that do not.
Details will be released later this year.
